The process:I wanted to see Christmas lights blink in a sequence or lights light up to my music. With just a few LEDs (Light Emitting Diode), a resistor, and a SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier), and my iTouch, I could make all this happen. My role: This project was mostly on my own. I decided to seek out permission and guidance from the professor, and went to the ECpE Department's electronics shop to find the correct parts that were not given in our circuits kit. The skills: Wire up a simple circuit on my own on a breadboard. I understand how to measure current and voltage, calculate power and other theoretical measurements, and fix problematic connections on the breadboard. The environment: The reward: I realized that no matter how simple a project can seem, problems will probably arise. I learned how to research my ideas further to get a greater understanding of what exactly my circuit needs to have in order to work properly.
